Horror 101 Podcast – Episode 29: Amityville II: The Possession

Episode XXIX: Amityville II: The Possession – Dec. 3rd, 2013

If these walls could talk…they would shriek!

Get ready to have the lines of fact and fiction blurred as we spotlight a frightening 80s horror film that is based on real events. Most people are aware of the sensational Amityville Horror, the story of George and Kathy Lutz and how they fled their home due to it’s demonic haunting in the mid 70s. All evidence points to their story being nothing more than an elaborate hoax yet it became one of the most notorious haunted house films ever made. But the fact is, on November 13th, 1974 six family members were shot and killed while they slept in that famous house in Amityvillle. The only remaining member of the Defeo family, Sonny was convicted of the crime. One of his defense strategies was to try and make the jury believe that an evil spirit commanded him to commit the murders. Amityville II is the story of that family and how it would have been if his demonic tale was true. Join the Horror 101 team as they dissect this Dino De Laurentiis production. We’ll give you facts from the original case, audio and music from the film and by the end of the show we guarantee you’ll agree that Amityville II is by far the most superior horror film in the Amityville series.

    Cash and Crew,

Just discovered your podcast a few months back. Thank you all so much for putting these out. I, like yourselves, am a huge horror fan and your podcasts get me through the work day. PLEASE keep them coming. Any chance you guys might be thinking of reviewing any of the Insidious movies? Just curious.

Thanks guys (and nude, can’t leave her out!),

Thanks for listening to the show. We’re glad you enjoy them.

We’ve been thinking about making video reviews for the newer horror that comes out. We enjoyed Insidious. Haven’t seen Insidious II yet so look for a review for that when it comes out on Blu-ray.
