Horror 101 – Episode 87: Near Dark (1987)

The Night Has Its Price.

Welcome back to the Horror 101 podcast. On this show we’re returning to the vampire train. We could have covered Lost Boys but we decided to go the not-so-fluffy route and focused on a more sinister tale of the undead. Three key actors from Aliens (1986) went from outer space to the deep west and helped provide a very unique look at night time predators. Plagued with a failing production company and being released a month within the much more popular Lost Boys, this film was released with very little fanfare and was basically cast by the wayside. In the last few decades it has gained quite the cult following and has become the favourite vampire film of many fans. With memorable performances by Lance Henriksen and the late, great Bill Paxton we offer you the Horror 101 treatment of Kathryn Bigelow’s Near Dark. Join us!
